A new poll from Kaiser Family Foundation takes a look at the public’s experience with prescription painkiller abuse. It found that although just six percent of participants had abused prescription painkillers themselves, 25 percent knew a close friend or family member who had and 45 percent were acquainted with people who have used these medications without a prescription.
